Prestolite Hydraulic Starter

With our sister company Transmotor UK, we supply spares for the Prestolite hydraulic starter system as well as complete starter sets for new installations.

The Prestolite hydraulic starter is an emergency starter system for diesel engines of 70-160mm cylinder bore size and can be fitted on engines ranging from approximately 1.5 litre capacity and 2 or 3 cylinders up to V12 engines with a 27 litre capacity.

Applications include ship’s emergency generator sets, lifeboat engines and engines used to drive hydraulic & fire pumps on offshore platforms. The reliable design has been well proven over many decades and thousands of these systems are in service around the world.

Uniquely, the starter directly drives the engine crankshaft via an adaptor mounted to the crank pulley. This makes the system ideal for engines where a second starting system is required, but the engine doesn't have a second starter pocket.

The system was previously manufactured and branded as the Lucas Bryce hydraulic starter system and before that as the Bryce Berger hydraulic starter system.
